Capacitive sensing is a widely used technology in fluid level sensing. The spectrum is sensed with the AS7265x ambient light sensor and it is shown on the display on the box. The spectrum can be disturbed with colored LEDs. Due to the closed loop system, the spectrum can adjust to the original settings.
AS7265x is an 18-channel sensor chip set, working as a small master-slave network. The host controller must interact only with the master chip. The 18 channels cover the whole McCree range from 400 up to 940 nm. With the provided gain and integration time settings the sensors can be adjusted to the light conditions.

Correctly identifying ripeness is critical to determining the exact time to harvest fruits. Tropical fruits are expensive to grow and have a short shelf-life, so recognizing the ideal harvest time reduces food waste and increases value. Common solutions need to destroy the fruit to take the BRIX measurement, are
not scalable to retail and consumer use, and have limitations for the grower while existing NIR spectroscopy solutions are large and expensive (~5k-10k$ devices).


A highly sensitive NIR spectral sensor measures the properties of the fruit. The spectral footprint allows extraction of the BRIX value and the dry mass (indicators of sweetness and ripeness). The raw data measurements are uploaded to the cloud and then provide an accurate measurement value (currently for apples and kiwis).

Capacitive sensing: more reliable and safer solution for liquid level sensing and more


Capacitive sensing is a widely used technology in fluid level sensing. It works on the principle of capacitance: charge accumulates in the gap between two sheets of metal, or ‘electrodes’, when a voltage is applied to one electrode. The amount of charge which accumulates depends on a property, the ‘permittivity’, of the material between the sheets.
At the heart of the AS8579’s measurement system is a type of capacitive sensing technology called I/Q demodulation. This method measures the resistive as well as the capacitive element of a system’s impedance. The effect of this is that, unlike other methods for capacitive sensing, it works reliably even in difficult conditions, and is sensitive to small changes in capacitance.

Infrared spectral property measurement


Correctly identifying ripeness is critical to determining the exact time to harvest fruits. Tropical fruits are expensive to grow and have a short shelf-life, so recognizing the ideal harvest time reduces food waste and increases value. Common solutions need to destroy the fruit to take the BRIX measurement, are not scalable to retail and consumer use, and have limitations for the grower while existing NIR spectroscopy solutions are large and expensive (~5k-10k$ devices).


A highly sensitive NIR spectral sensor measures the properties of the fruit. The spectral footprint allows extraction of the BRIX value and the dry mass (indicators of sweetness and ripeness). The raw data measurements are uploaded to the cloud and
then provide an accurate measurement value (currently for apples and kiwis).

AS7265x is an 18-channel sensor chip set, working as a small master-slave network. The host controller must interact only with the master chip. The 18 channels cover the whole McCree range from 400 up to 940 nm. With the provided gain and integration time settings the sensors can be adjusted to the light conditions.

Accurate XYZ color sensors from ams OSRAM enable display controllers to shift the white point of the display in response to changes in the color temperature of ambient light: the effect is to make text as readable on the display as it is when printed in a book. By shifting the display’s white point to a warmer color temperature, in which there is less blue light, the display controller also minimizes eye strain caused by prolonged viewing, and can reduce the risk of sleep disturbance attributable to use of the display.


This demo highlights “True color” analysis capability by using 8 optical channels to mimic the behavior of the human eye. This sensor is used for ambient light sensing (ALS) and accurate Corelated Color Temperature (CCT) assessment. The sensor includes an integrated diffuser right in the package and also performs flicker detection.​

‘True color analysis’
Accurate XYZ color sensors from ams OSRAM enable display controllers to shift the white point of the display in response to changes in the color temperature of ambient light: the effect is to make text as readable on the display as it is when printed in a book. By shifting the display’s white point to a warmer color temperature, in which there is less blue light, the display controller also minimizes eye strain caused by prolonged viewing, and can reduce the risk of sleep disturbance attributable to use of the display.


This demo highlights “True color” analysis capability by using 8 optical channels to mimic the behavior of the human eye. This sensor is used for ambient light sensing (ALS) and accurate Corelated Color Temperature (CCT) assessment. The sensor includes an integrated diffuser right in the package and also performs flicker detection.​
